A lead core faculty member serves at the pleasure of the Program Director and is a member of the USU faculty. They are focused on excellence in teaching and student success including mentoring and advising, participates in governance activities, and provides elements of scholarship, professional service and/or community service to the USU community or the profession. The faculty member supports the College by providing expertise in areas such as curriculum development, and is fully engaged in the business of the College including contributing to strategic direction and planning, effective teaching and learning, and outcome assessment and action planning. The faculty member may mentor others, and supports the mission, goals, and outcomes of the University and College. Under the direction of the Program Director, the faculty member is responsible for assisting the director with achieving outcomes and the mission of the program and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Essential Responsibility:
- Provide leadership and guidance to students
- Strives for excellence in teaching and promotes effective teaching and learning strategies
- Provides mentoring, coaching, supervision and evaluation of adjunct faculty
- Develops, improves, evaluates and implements curriculum
- Makes suggestions for best practices and contribute to policies and procedures development and revision
- Maintains expertise in subject area by attending continuing education, development and/or maintains practice activities.

- Workscollaborativelywithfacultyandstaff
- Provides mentorship, advising and support for students and may mentor new faculty
- Act as a representative for the CONHS
- Is active in program and University governance

- Leading program improvement efforts, including active contribution to and participation in the Educational Effectiveness program, academic program review, evaluating, assessing and evaluation of program and College outcomes and assist with recommending improvement strategies

Minimum Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- PhD, DNP, or doctorate in Nursing or health science, or Master's with an earned doctorate in a similar field, or Masters in nursing and attending doctoral program (or willing to within 6 months of hire)
- Disciplinary or Clinical Experience
- Experience teaching in post-licensure nursing or health science students
- Experience with distance learning and academic technology required
- May require additional licenses and/or certifications depending on area assigned

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
- Unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse/APRN in the State of California or willing to obtain (if teaching in nursing programs)
- May be required to earn or obtain other state licenses
- Other credential(s) as identified by Dean for position
Work Environment:
The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve working in a combination of office and classroom environments. Travel by car, plane, train and other modes of transportation may be required for this position.
While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
