United States University is excited to welcome over 500 graduates from the 2023 graduating class to San Diego, CA on September 16th. Founded in 1997, United States University provides professional and personal educational opportunities, with a special outreach to underserved groups. At this year’s commencement ceremony, the university is honored to welcome Dr. Joyce Javier as the commencement speaker. Dr. Javier is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in the Departments of Pediatrics and Population and Public Health Sciences. She completed residency training in pediatrics and a postdoctoral fellowship in general academic pediatrics at Stanford University. She is a pediatrician scientist whose research has focused on using community based participatory research to preventing behavioral health disparities among Filipino youth. The University also congratulates Raul Monares who will be the featured student speaker. Raul Monares has worked at Kaiser Permanente for over thirty-four years as an individual contributor or leader in administration, sales, marketing, and learning and development. He is a Learning & Performance Leader for the Health Plan Workforce Development team. He takes immense pride in contributing to an organization that prioritizes enhancing health care for the members that they serve and local communities. Raul's academic journey began in 1986, marking his first venture into higher education. Tragically, the sudden loss of his mother derailed his university trajectory, leading him through personal challenges. Raul is now a proud graduate of USU.
